Health economic evaluation shared at Mt. Hood Diabetes Challenge

In late November 2019, two members of SUNI-SEA work package 2, Dr. Lan and Dr. Van der Schans participated in the Mt Hood Diabetes challenge in Seoul, South Korea. The conference hosted by the Institute for Medical and Pharmaceutical Economics, Chung-Ang University, aimed to promote the use of health economics and diabetes simulation models across Asian region.

During the two days meeting, the challenges on translation of health-economic models were discussed, and multiple projects working on diabetes modeling or related health economic outcomes were presented. Both researchers represented SUNI-SEA as one of the consortiums working on health economic evaluations in South-East Asia.

The conference completed with a workshop on building diabetes simulation models in Asia, organised by Andrew Palmer, University of Tasmania, and Philip Clarke, Health Economics Research Center, University of Oxford, both having extensive experience on building diabetes simulation outcomes models.

The Mt Hood Diabetes Challenge is a regular international conference held annually devoted to the economics of diabetes, with emphasis on comparative simulation modelling. It involved around 80-100 participants including researchers, academia, health economist as well as private sector.
