On Monday 15 May, the SUNI-SEA Indonesian team conducted a key stakeholder forum at the Grand Surya Hotel, Kediri City, to share project findings and explore strategies to strengthen NCD prevention and control programmes.
During the forum a group discussion was organised, inviting several important participants including Kediri city health officers, the head of the Puskesmas, village midwives and nurses, cadres and Posbindu participants.
The primary focus of the discussion was on discussing strategies to enhance interventions for prevention and control of NCDs. The outcome of the multi-stakeholder discussion highlighted that the key to success lies in the collaborative efforts of stakeholders, particularly in establishing effective coordination between Posbindu cadres, Puskesmas officers, and the Department of Health.
During the discussion, various challenges were identified. One important challenge was the lack of integration of NCD among existing programmes in Indonesia, resulting in programme overlaps. Resolving this issue would lead to improved resource allocation. Additionally, the importance of synergy between cadres, health centres, and the health office was discussed, as it plays a vital role in enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services and successful interventions.
